What is an EXIF metadata viewer?
An EXIF metadata viewer reads information stored inside a photo file. Depending on the image and camera, that information can include the camera model, lens, exposure settings, capture date, orientation and GPS coordinates. Upload an image to inspect its available details in a readable table without changing the source file.
How to view image metadata
- Upload a photo or another supported image from your device.
- Review the basic file details, including dimensions, size and type.
- Browse camera, EXIF, GPS, IPTC and XMP fields when they are present.
- Choose another image whenever you want to inspect a different file.
Not every image contains metadata. Screenshots, exported graphics and images shared through social platforms often have their original EXIF data removed. A photo taken directly by a phone or camera is more likely to include capture settings and location information. The viewer shows only what is actually stored in the file, so an empty results table does not mean the image is damaged.
Why check photo metadata?
Metadata can help identify how a photo was taken, confirm its pixel dimensions, understand camera settings or check whether location information remains attached before sharing. GPS fields deserve particular attention: a photo can reveal where it was captured even when no location is visible in the picture itself. If you plan to publish an image, consider removing sensitive metadata separately after reviewing it.
