What is a favicon generator?
A favicon generator turns a logo or image into the small square icons used by browser tabs, bookmarks and home-screen shortcuts. Upload a source image, check the centered preview and generate several PNG sizes from one design. The tool packages the files in a ZIP and also offers each size separately, so you can use the set that matches your website or app.
How to create favicon files
- Upload a clear logo, symbol or square image.
- Add padding if the mark sits too close to the icon edge.
- Keep a transparent background, or choose a solid background color.
- Generate the icon set and download the ZIP or individual PNG files.
The generator creates 16, 32, 48, 180, 192 and 512 pixel PNGs. Small sizes are useful for browser-tab and bookmark icons, while the larger files work for touch icons, web app manifests and other high-density displays. Every file uses the same centered square crop, helping a brand mark stay visually consistent across contexts.
Tips for better favicon design
Favicons are tiny, so a simple symbol is usually more recognizable than a detailed full logo. Use strong contrast between the mark and its background, avoid very thin lines and inspect the 16 pixel file before publishing. A little padding can prevent the design from looking cramped, but too much may make it hard to see at browser-tab size. Transparent PNG is often the most flexible choice when a logo already has a clean outline.
Private browser generation
This generator draws each icon and assembles the ZIP file locally in your browser. Your source logo is not uploaded to a server and remains unchanged. You can test different background and padding settings as often as needed, then download only the favicon package you prefer.
