What is a passport photo maker?
A passport photo maker helps you crop a portrait into a standard photo shape for a passport, visa or identity application. Upload a clear portrait, choose a supported size and adjust the framing before downloading a new PNG. The tool gives you control over the crop while leaving your original image unchanged.
How to create a passport photo
- Upload a portrait photo from your device.
- Choose a 2 by 2 inch US-style format or a 35 by 45 millimeter format.
- Use zoom and position controls to center your face in the frame.
- Review the preview and download the correctly proportioned PNG.
The US-style export is 600 by 600 pixels, and the 35 by 45 millimeter export is 413 by 531 pixels. Those dimensions correspond to a 300-DPI print size. The image fills the crop area, so the photo never has empty bands around the edge. Use a well-lit portrait with enough space around the head to make framing easier. Use a plain, evenly lit background and avoid heavy shadows so the final crop is easier to assess.
Important photo requirements
Government and visa photo requirements vary by country and can change. This tool provides a standard crop and output size, but it does not verify background color, facial expression, head size, clothing, recentness or any other official rule. Always compare the final photo against the current instructions from the authority receiving your application. Keep the original portrait so you can make a different crop if necessary.
Private browser cropping
The Canvas API crops the photo directly in your browser. Your portrait is not uploaded to a server, and no copy is retained by this tool. You can try different positions or sizes as often as needed, then download the passport-style PNG you prefer.
