How to Add a Watermark to Your Photos

To watermark a photo, open a watermark tool, type your text, set its size, position and opacity, and download. It's applied in your browser, so your photos aren't uploaded.

How to add a watermark

  • Open Add Watermark to Image and upload your photo.
  • Type your watermark text — your name, brand, or website.
  • Adjust the size, position and opacity, then download.

Why watermark

A watermark discourages people from reusing your images without credit and quietly advertises your brand wherever the photo travels. It's common for photographers, designers, and anyone sharing proofs or previews.

Getting it right

  • Opacity around 30–50% keeps the watermark visible without ruining the image.
  • Position it where it's hard to crop out — across the middle is more secure than a corner, though corners are less intrusive.
  • Watermark before you resize or compress so the mark scales with the image; finish with the Image Compressor.

Private

The watermark is applied in your browser — your photos are never uploaded.

Frequently asked questions

Can a watermark be removed?

A determined editor can attempt it, especially for corner watermarks. A semi-transparent mark across the image is harder to remove cleanly, but no watermark is unbreakable.

What opacity should I use?

Around 30–50% is the sweet spot — clearly visible as ownership without hiding the image itself.
